1996 LT-1>>>90,000 miles>>>>>>Going to replace shock's. Elderbrock, maybe Blisten's or some other brand..What are you guy's running and with what success????Normal every day driving...Thank's for all replies.
I went for the IAS Edelbrock shocks on my ZO7 equiped car and I must say I am pretty impressed. The car feels smoother and less harsh than it did in the "Tour" mode yet feels more stable and corners better than it did in the "Perf" mode.
A good all round shock for a street driven car that gets raced every now and then.
I personally put the Bilstein z51's all the way around and coupled them with 'Vette Brakes and Products fiberglass monosprings. the ride and performance is incredible. I have a brand new set of Bilsteins (soft ride) that I would be willing to sell. saving them for a rainy day or if the wife got pregnant again (I'll go soft ride but i won't get rif of the car!) send me an email to psipher@nc.rr.com, I'll make you a good deal which inclues shipping since I am a fedex account holder. I personally like the Z51 but there's nothing wrong with getting new in box Bilsteins' either. ;)
i have a question, you mention the FX-3 settings of tour & performance etc.. but used the edelbrock shock? how exactly is anything happening to the shock when the fx-3 system is used on a special bilstein with actuators on top of the shocks to spin the valving? just wondering..sure it's not all in your head?
I think, i also need to replace the shocks..
I´ve got FX3 in the car, with bilsteins..
are there any alternatives to bilsteins?
can the actuator be removed from the dead shock and bolt on to a good one, or are the actuator and the shock one unit???
i think bilsteins are good shocks but extreme expensive..
Would be nice if some of yo can give me alternatives of adjustable shoks, with out getting a " service ride control"
I took Bilsteins off with only 30k miles on them and replaced them with Edelbrocks. You can't imagine what a difference it makes until you try for yourself. I have the FE1 suspension. While you're at it, pick up the new and improved rear spring link cushions from Jeff Kopp. Another quantum leap change in suspension compliance without cornering penalty. If you insist on having Bilsteins like most of the other forum members, I'd gladdly sell you mine for a fair offer.
