Default 85 Timing

My 85 is stock*as far as I know) and is running rough. I know I have a problem with the fuel vapor canister purge valve solenoid. I want to check the timing. What is the proceedure for doing this. The FSM says to look at the emissions sticker but ut is missing. Also, what does the connetion by the brake booster that I need to disconnect look like?

EST connector is a plastic connect - wire is tan/blk, unhook to set timing. If you search, there are posts that show location, but its by the wiring harness near the brake booster...Time 6* BTDC.

I thought it was 10* BTDC, either way I know its printed on the emissions label on the radiator shroud.

The base timing is 6* BTDC. I have advaced mine to 10* BTDC with minimal knock.

All C4s on which the timing CAN be set, L83s and L98s, the spec for the base timing is 6° BTDC. Also, your FSM has an illustration of the EST connector that must be unplugged.

RACE ON!!!

I double checked it and it is 6* BTDC, my bad. Just dont go higher than 12* it'll start running bad.
