Default Cloyes Timing Chain ???

I'm debating on the LT-4 hot Cam Kit.... If I go this way (most likely will) it seems like a good idea to go with the Cloyes timing chain part #9-3151. Question is, Are there other sett's out there that r just as good but cheaper ??? I cant find the Cloyes under $355.95, GM parts direct offers part #12370835 for $230.78 but is it as good. Any help/guidance in this area would be appreciated...... ....thanks in advance.

Go with an electric water pump and you can run the ~$80 Cloyes 9-3145 true double roller.

Yep, that's the ticket.

I have a brand new, in the box 9-3145 that I just sold to a Forum member for $50

I bought it, not knowing I'd have to remove all the stock water pump stuff behind the timing chain cover and run an electric water pump.

I decided not to go that route and ordered a Cloyes 3039 from Summit for about $80 which'll allow me to keep running a stock type water pump.

Just found that timing set on Summit's site. Didn't know one was availible that cheap, for our cars. Looks like a nice stock replacement.

Don't know about other engines. But, our LTx water pumps are driven by the top timing gear. No belts or pulleys.

The water pump gear assembly is part # 10219554. I just ordered one today.

If you decide to go with a stock-type setup and need the gear assembly, you can check GMPARTSDIRECT.COM for a much better price than your local GM parts dealer. Close to a $40 savings.
