Default AC Issue

A while ago I remember someone posted directions on how to repair the clip that holds the AC diverter door in place. Anyone know where I can get a hold of a copy of that?

Thanks.

Remove passenger side hush panel and ECM. Motor is on the right side of the heater plenum towards the top. Probably best to unbolt it so that you can see how it's connected to the control rod. Disconnect and reconnect the battery when your done so that the Controls can relearn the position of the temp door.

I had to do this once before on my '89. It's real fun when the vent temperatures are constantly changing between hot and cold every time you make a hard turn, isnt it?

So you get to it from underneath on the inside? I thought that you did this from the engine compartment. Will this give me good access to the clip that holds the door in place?

Thanks for the help.

...i had some pictures and some written stuff on this subject that i will try to dig up. in my situation (1988), the clips attached to the electric motor mounted under the dash on the passenger side of the car.

there is also another clip that attached to the "blend" door directly in the heater/ac box. my understanding is that the clips are no longer available from gm.

my interior clip stripped out somehow and the rod to the blend door slipped out. what i did is reinstalled the rod and adjusted then, i put 1 drop of gorilla glue and let it sit undisturbed overnight...that was 2 years ago and all is well.

if you remove (if it applies) the heater resistor module from the top of the heater box in the engine compartment, with a flashlight you should be able to look into the heater box and see the condition of the clip (1 of the 2) at the heater blend door. advance auto parts sells a pk of clips that 1 or 2 can be "re-worked" to be a replacement.
