Agree entirely Ruff Rider, their engine replacement easily exceeds the value of my car!

I built my own engine and it nearly exceeds the value of my car. So what's your point?

exactly

Guys like you make me envious, being able to build your own beast...

I have a degenerative nerve condition not unlike M.S. so wrenching is out of the pitcher. My buddy's and I joke around how they will build me a Corvette Trike Bike that will be fitted to hoist a wheel chair in to it..... ...

But I'm not there yet so until then I'll keep bothering all of you with my pesky novice questions and pipe dreams.....

Yeah Kid, I have no problem believing that, but you have to admit it seems a little less painful when you build it yourself and a lot more rewarding when completed

Half of my project costs seem to be the "OH BUY THE WAYS" You know just $25 to replace this, and for only $400 more you can do this, while you're in there might as well replace that" that always seem to double the internet cost projections.

In fact I have a package arriving Monday from Concord NC and
64% of the invoice is for might as wells!

However, the performance increases have been simply amazing, IMO the C4 as a platform is capable of much more than people give it credit for.

As for stroker engines check out some of the F-body/Impala SS forums.

I've noticed that the F-body and Impala crowd seem more inclined to modify their cars than the average Corvette owner.

The LT1 stock bottom end is capable of seeing 11s stock bottom end. All you need are good heads and a strong cam.

Aint nothing like pipe dreams, keep asking questions, just for you info, there is a guy in town who has a problem, legs dont work right, he has a vette, C4 if I remember right and has it modified a little bit, carrys a light fold up wheel chair with him and he does fine. Maybe that would work for you also. He is in and out of the vette all the time, it an automatic and he goes everywhere, maybe thats the ticket for you. God Bless

"treehugger free zone"
so I'm upgrading my 23XX cam and 918s and moving into the hairy chested cam and valve train arena.

It will be a little harder for you to make big power since you live in the PRK you can't move your cats so you're limited to shorty headers and other "CARB" parts. So a mild Head Cam stroker is probably the ticket. Is there a reason for a 383 vice 388, 396 etc??

Good luck.

Mike

(notice I said move not remove the cats)

I'm a novice...i attempted all this mess by myself and hahah....i'd have to say a turn key engine doesn't sound too bad. When you consider how much time you'd have to spend on it "as a novice"

2-3x's longer than a intermediate and probabably 10x's longer than an expert the hours and frustration probably would make buying a turnkey sound like a steal!

considering I've been working on this engine project for almost a year -----LOTS of hours ------and still don't have it working right yet.

People with the money seem to be satisfied with LPEs work, sometimes the lower priced option isn't the inexpensive one!
