Default Need help with TunerPro RT

I just got my ALDL cable in the mail today and wanted to run some scans. I have TunerPro RT and WinALDL but I cant seem to get either one to work. Everything is hooked up like it should be and both programs recognize that there is a connection, but thats as far as i've gotten. I would like to jump right into recording data, so any help would be much appreciated.

I've gotten WinALDL to work with my 85 on an XP laptop (although I have a serial cable). Do you have a 10K resistor in the circuit? (I think this is needed to get the data stream started). I really have to push the ALDL connector onto the diagnostic port to ensure it is connected. Check that the connector is seated well.

Yes, it (Tuner Pro) will work on Windows XP. First, you need an "ads" (ALDL Definition) file in order to read the ECM's live data:

http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/downloadBinDefs.htm

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 1985 Corvette. Not sure if it's 1227165_160.ad or not.

You then simply load the "ads" file by going to the setup section of the ALDL/Data Logging section.

Have you installed the cable onto the laptop?

Turn on the laptop and get to the desktop screen. Connect the cable and an install screen should pop up. Follow the steps and install the cable. Once Widows has reconized the cable, then open the tunerpro RT program and go to tools. Click connect and wait. Then turn the key on and you should notice the TPS voltage reading.

Where did you get the cable. If from Craig Moates, he sends a CD to use for the cable install.

I have a 1985... corvette 350 TPI... not camaro (aka fbody 305)
strEngine =5.0L LB9 F-Car;
strYear =1985;
strVINCode =F;

This is the part of the definition that you found. This is why we think it is not necessarily for a corvette with a 5.7L not 5.0L

clarification please,

I did some research... the definition/ecm used for coresponding engine years between the 305 and 350 v8 engines are the same. for example the 1226870 ecm is found in both the 350 (y-body corvette) and 305 (f-body camaro/firebird...) "just used different proms?" whatever, point is the file in question works, you can double check that it has the v8 version selected within it...
