Whats the best timing?

Well I just dropped a new motor in a buddies 90 Vette. It has the TPI 350. I have it running now need to know whats the optimal timing for these cars.

w/out understanding through scaning and running it to see what is going on, I'd start with setting it @6* as recommended. Advance is set and controlled (for the rpm/map in the main spark table) in the "chip", advancing it at the distributer will advance everything globally.

From memory, bump the timing at the track until trap speed goes down.

Is this a GM crate motor 350ci /330 hp? If so the directions given to me were 6*advanced. I had this engine put in my '90 vert in December '06.
