I went to take my car in to a shop recommended by a friend the other day to have my power steering pressure hose replaced. Turns out, three days later, they finally get to work on it and when removing a hose from the power steering cooler, they broke it (which was an inseperable part to the power steering cooler) and now say that i must pay the 179 dollars to buy a new one because it broke because of "old age" and "wasnt their fault"
I told them that it was theyre fault and asked how they could say they werent responsible when they were the ones who broke it. I told them that the fact is that they broke it and it was fine when i came in, and that under no circumstances was i going to pay for it, so now theyre saying that they will have another hose custom bent so i dont have to buy a new cooler.
Isnt this a bunch of crap? I should of told them to fix it right and i didnt want their rigged up junk on my car, but i was too mad to think straight.
:mad :cuss
Now I'm glad I bit the bullet and had my u-joints done by a Vette specialist ($$). I've had too many local guys "rig" work on my IROC to chance the Vette.
Did you ever stop and think they might be telling the truth? I have had the end of one twist off on me trying to replace the hose. Sometimes these things happen and you just can't help it. Remember they are not working on your new car, so there might be some contamination between the nut and the line that caused it to break. It is always unfortunate when it happens but it does happen. I don't think you can really hold him liable for the line in that it could have been frozen on there. Just buy the new one and enjoy driving you Vette with no power steering leaks.
