Anyone running a Carburated LT4, I remember seeing an article on this a few yrs back. I have a LT 4 in my 64 GS and would like to get the nostalgia look back, Any ideas

Kevin,
I have an Edelbrock LT4 4 barrel manifold I purchased from GM 2 years ago for doing engine dynos and it has been machine match ported to AFR 195 LT4 heads. It has about 5 hours of dyno time on it. Looks like new. PM if interested.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my stroked LT4 race motor. I'll be using a GM intake, ??? race carb, and firing it through an MSD dist, digital 6 box, with a crank trigger. The trigger and box are transferring over from the injection setup. I'll be ordering the intake, carb, and dist within the next 2 weeks.
What are you going to do for an intake? As far as I know, there is no LT4 specific carb intake, and I don't believe an LT1 or SBC intake will fit the taller port heads without some help.
I can't imagine why you would want to do an LT4 carb motor. The stock fuel injection can be programmed to handle just about anything, and the stock LT4 manifold is pretty good, unlike an L98 intake manifold.
**DISCLAIMER: I don't mean to start another carb/FI war, I'm just curious as to your reasoning. DISCLAIMER**

Keith,
Here are the GM performance part numbers for LT1 and LT4 Dual plane 4-barrel manifolds if interested. Google on GM performance parts manifolds and you can find various sites with pictures of each. The LT4 has a nice Bowtie logo cast on the front of it like the one I have.
GM #24502592 LT1
GM #24502574 LT4

my only thought... if you drive this car a lot, I would think that the EFI is the way to go. It will provide you with 30mpg, and the carb will cause a loss... just something to consider with gas prices as they are.
I have built a LT4 with carb to go into my 81 Vette. The chassis is not completed so the motor is not installed yet. Car is being set up with a ZF 6 speed. Pictures availiable at www.dalesvettes.com click on 1981 ProStreet for details of engine build and chassis work.

LT4 Dual plane 4-barrel manifold dosen't make as much hp as the single
plane. At the time I installed mine ,GM was the only one for the LT4 engine so I have that with the AFR 220 heads.
Jegs has the aircleaner that will fit under the hood if you are going to continue in that dirrection.
I run an 850 holley 94 in the primary and 96 in the secondaries with vaccum secondaries, msd 6al box with an electric choke.
If you are going to stay stock I would leave the fuel injection.
You will have to run an electric water pump and get the GM block off that fits into the timing cover. The change is no big deal .What info do you need?

4+ year old thread. I wouldn't count on getting a response. Your best bet is to post a NEW "Want to Buy" (WTB) thread over in the Parts For Sale section of the Forum.
