#2 plug carbonized
My '92 started missing Sunday evening. Had it at the shop today and the guy said the #2 spark plug was carbonized possibly with oil. He put in a new plug and checked the others. All else was ok.
And the significance of this would be???? Linda

you have a cylinder going down... so to speak.
the cylinder my have a bad valve seal, valve guide or even a ring collapsed.
it could be as simple as a bad injector flooding a bit too much fuel into that cylinder, too.
however, this could get expensive.

How many miles since the plugs were changed? Dry carbon is usually fuel; wet oil. Pull it again after a couple hundred of miles and see what it looks like. Otherwise, do a balance test on the injectors and ask the mechanic if he checked the resistance of your plug wires.

18K miles on the plugs and wires. I'll keep a close eye on it.
