I have been noticing my car running very rich lately and decided to look under the hood. Laying on the base was two pieces of the molded vaccum lines that run from the FPR to the TB. I have been looking everywhere and can't find the molded vaccum hose that I need to replace it. I didn't want to go with a flexible line for fear that it would overheat or melt and then I'd be back in the same boat again.
If anyone has a link to where I could order these parts or a parts store that would carry them and what I should ask for it would be greatly appreciated.
GM no longer has preformed vacuum tubing (5/32 inch OD) available that connects various parts such as the Throttle Body, Plenum and EGR on my 1987 Vette, similar to teufelhund's situation.
SOLUTION: the folks at the local PARKER STORE (hose & fittings) will bend stainless steel or regular steel tubing (3/16 inch OD) to duplicate the tubing I am replacing.
Alternative for tubing that is more malable to allow fine tuning vacuum lines fit, purchase fuel line tubing from an auto parts store and asked the Parker Store folks to bend it for you. I bought some black tubing from NAPA, after bending it should just like the original plastic tubing that it will replace.
Napa sells straight pieces. Use a lighter to heat and bend to the needed shape. If broken, you can splice them back together with a peice of rubber hose in between.
Too many hose slices, a mess I am trying to clean up. But heating and bending the plastic tubing sounds good. My NAPA folks did not think of telling me that.
But once I have the metal tubing as a replacement it will be done! Thanks
