When installing new intake manifold gaskets on a TPI, is it ok to put RTV on the gaskets? I know they have silicone around the openings already but I DO NOT want it to get an air leak again.
If you want to be absolutely sure it won't leak, take the intake to a machine shop and have them do a clean up cut. They are often warped.
They will only deck them the minimum they need to be flat. Usually .005 or less.
What bothers me the most, is I dont know why or where its leaking from. I just know its gotta be the intake manifold itself. Using a straight it didnt look warped at all. Of course a straight edge isnt the end all of tools to check for that.
I've said it before that I got a fuel leak, but most people said that it wouldnt have effected the intake gasket. I know its not leaking any fluids.
Apply 3/16" bead of RTV (The Right Stuff) sealant. Don't use the S-shaped gaskets on the front and rear...just the RTV.
Yeah I used sealant instead of the gaskets. Its definitely not the front or back. I find it odd that the part of the gasket thats sticking out is wet, but not leaking.
