Actually, its the 955 springs and I am using titanium retainers. I just got off the phone with Compcams and they said the card should have read hot instead of cold. They said that the cold settings should be 0.018" int and 0.020" exh to start and back it down in 0.002" increments if it needs it. However, I shouldn't keep tightening until the KS doesn't read anything because the valve train setup I have will always trigger a knock sensor.

Now we are getting somewhere! It does not take the lash being out much to make a lot of noise. I am not saying that tightening it up will absolutely cure this problem, but I would really try. There is always a chance of getting bad gas and other problems where it would be really nice to have the KS intact!!!

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Is there any difference between the LT1 and the LT4 Knock Sensor ; I've done the LT4 knock module change and did not see a bit of difference.

I am losing power on top end & believe I may be getting false knock also. ...

Think I will try the teflon tape idea. I noticed in my '95 Service manual that they say not to use thread sealant on the sensor because it may desensitize it..... I guess that's what we want; either sealant or TPE tape to desensitize it.....

I was running the extreme roller version of that cam. 236-242. My bro in law John is running the exact LPE cam 236-244. We both have minimal noise. You hear more of a mechanical roller noise over any kind of clicking(known wiht solid type cams)

First I would do what is posted above. I am running a basic 90-91 knocker with my 90 ecm. Loosen it up or totally remove and use some new teflon tape on it.
If still nogo.
Then its in the chip. I try to run a dead on 6 degrees intial with the dist. then I program my timing in the computer.
I must say I probrably have one of the most aggessive timing curves on this forum. next to John(bowtie8) and lt401 ;)
I was messing wiht some idle timing and bumped it up a few degrees . well I was getting lots of idle knock. so I remove that few degrees from the chip and all back to normal.
get some diacom traces and send them along . We can see where you are at. I run total of 38 degrees from 3500 on up. I know most will argue this is wrong for a 11:1 comp motor. BUt I have tried 34-32 and My ET 's fall off.
Most say with a under 62 cc chamber head you dont need that much timing with a efficient head. Well I give my my setup likes :)

Yuo have a 91 7727 ecm. Pretty easy to get tuning software for.
What chip are you running?
