My 92 has an auxilliary electrical plug located under the console. The book says to take out 3 screws, lift the console and pull the plug out from under it; so I did. It has a plug you can attach to any electrical component you may want to run. The plug has 3 wires; one to the battery, one to the switch, and a ground. My problem is, the component I want to operate only has two wires. What wires do I connect from the plug and which one does not get connected? Any help would be appreciated!
Bernie
Bernie - Chances are you want to use the switched 12V and the Ground wire for you application.. The 3rd wire is constant 12V. This constant 12V is usually used for devices that want to retain memory, but use very small amount of current.
I use my 3-wire accesory plug for a RF 6 CD-changer in my '93. I use all 3 wires, since it needs to remember last track played and what CD it is on. It works very well.
Anyway, if the colors havn't changed from '92 to '93, here's what you have:
Orange - Connects to Battery (12V always, you probably do not want to use this one. Just put some electrical tape around the end so as not to short the wire to ground)
Pink - Switched Power (Power is available only in the Run position) You should use this for your component.
Black - Ground. Yep, connect this to your component ground.
Thanks for the post guys. I needed to know if all three wires needed to be used or just 2 of the 3. I will use the switched pos. wire for mu application. Thanks again for the help!

Hey Bernie, If you are going to use that connection to power your alarm, you'll want to use the orange wire so that the alarm doesn't get turned off when you pull the key. If you're adding something besides that alarm, then use the pink.
Good luck with the install.
Bill, Thanks for the info. Actually, I was going to wire in a radar detector to the aux. plug. By the way, I removed the two screws holding the plastic cover in the footwell but it still would not come out to get to the wires for the door locks. Is there anything else holding the cove in place?
Bernie
You only need 2 of the 3 wires. 1 will be the GROUND. Then you need to decide if you want your device hot at all times or only when the key is on, then select the appropriate wire.

On my 92 the carpet is wraped around the right side of that cover and held on with velcro from the factory. If I remember, there's more than 2 screws holding that cover on.
Also, while you have tha console apart, if you are going to hook up the third bottom "hatch release" on your K9, the correct wire is the one that runs from the hatch botton in the console back to the hatch relay.
