throttle cable help

throttle cable help
87 coupe. just when it was going good--accelerator to throttle cable is
binding so much it has to be replaced. took off throttle end and poured it
full of oil--no help. only problem is removing the cable from firewall. there are
3 fasteners holding plates to firewall. 1 fastener was a 10mm nut. that is
removed. the two fasteners left are??? maybe pop rivets???
should i saw them or what??
