Well it might take two people, one to prevent the pulley from turning as you move the wrench. I put some lock washers on there as I did not want the nut to run out of threads.

okay so two people, one keeps the pulley from turning the other removing the frisbee and reinstalling with lock washers and that should be it ? timewise about 1/2 hour to hour or more like a 10 min job knowing what your doing

thanks

Does anyone have a pic of what the thing looks like? There was not one on my car when I bought it. I have a hard time telling people how to remove it or what it looks like since I myself don't know what it looks like. No biggie, but if someone has an wasy-to-get-to pic they can post, that would be cool

Hey! Emailed you a pic of my motor where you can see the frisbee. I tried popping the bolts off mine this weekend and man! They are tough to break loose!

The one on mine was a large flat round disk. About 10" a round and 1/2" thick, painted black, if I remember it correctly. I removed it three years ago now.

okay i got the 4 bolts off but there looks like a center piece on it doesn't look like a bolt and it's probably holding the frisbee in place....should the frisbee just slide out or do i need to beat it out or is there some easier way to get it off

does the belt tension need to be loosened?

From what I remember, it's on the water pump pulley witch stays on the water pump. The frisbee just slides off and you don't mess with the belt.

The frisbee just uses the same bolts as the ones that hold your water pump pulley on..

Yes, I would relieve the belt tension.. the frisbee should just pop right off the pulley..maybe a little tap from a hammer, but no beating should be needed. Then get the water pump pulley snugged up, put the belt back on and tighten the pulley the rest of the way.

edit - the reason for me saying to relieve the belt tension is that without the 4 bolts holding the pulley on to the water pump, it may try to come off under tension when you try taking the frisbee off.. for the extra 10 seconds it takes to pop the belt off the water pump, I'd do it.

okay i got the frisbee off but now the pulley and threads are offline....i'm assuming the easiest way to line the up again is to loosen the belt tension...(turn it clockwise??) and then realign the holes.....correct me if i'm wrong...sorry about this maybe being obvious but sorta new to this whole car fixing and adjusting thing

maybe i need a car repair for dummies manual ....

thanks

okay i answered my own question and it was an obvious answer sometimes i wanna make things more complicated than needed ....but thanks to everyone for their help

finally completed a 15 min job over a day and half....(ran outta time)....it's a very very simple thing to do, but when things don't go the way it should, which i'm sure that's most of the time to most of us, it's easy to make things complicated....

so on a final note to anyone looking to do this, here are the steps....

remove the air flow (big black plastic tube)
remove 4 bolts
pop frisbee off ...may need to tap
put 4 bolts back into holes with 3/8 lock washer
tighten

if you are having any troubles take a 1/2 inch breaker bar and loosen the tension (best to have two people....one just hold the bar and you line everything up

that's pretty much it......run the car and retighten bolts if necessary ...check for a few days to make sure bolts are not loose
