A Blue/White Wire goes to ground
B Orange/Black Wire goes to ECM and Hatch release button in the console.

When shifter is in Park or Neutral A is shorted to B. The console hatch release button when pressed now has a path to ground.
A ground signal is also placed on the ECM indicating the shifter is in Park or Neutral.

C Dark Blue 12 volts
D Light Green wire goes to reverse light bulbs.
When shifter is in Reverse C and D wires are shorted together providing 12 volts to the backup bulbs..

E Green/White 12 volts when ignition switch is in start.
F Purple Wire goes to starter solenoid.
When shifter is in Park or Neutral wires at E and F are shorted together providing 12 volts to the starter solenoid.

You said the wire on F is not Purple. So in your case what ever the color of the wire is, it is shorted to E when the shifter is in Park or Neutral.

To verify, just make sure the trans is in Park. Short the two wires together and the starter should engage when you turn the ignition switch to start.

I looked at the schematics for the shifter. I don't see any mention of using a relay. They show two switches that comes with the shifter. One for the Backup lamps and the other for the Neutral safety switch.

Can you post a schematic of the circuit you're using or explain how the relay you hooked up is supposed to work?
