Default Installing factory engine oil cooler?

I need some help? I am trying to install a factory engine oil cooler in my 1985 coupe.
I bought a used oil cooler and it came with some of the coolant hoses.

Does the cooler bolt onto the original oil filter adapter?
Where can I find a diagram on coolant hose routing?
Where can I get the fittings that go into the coolant system?

Thanks,
Vito

Well, first the oil cooler bolts to the bottom of the block where the oil filter "would have gone" IF there were no oil cooler.

One line goes from the cooler to the side of the block @ 6-8" forward of the cooler,,,

The 2nd line goes up to the front of the oil pan, then upward to the passenger side of the Water Pump where there is a 3-way tube (T) that this line goes into.

Hope this helps

The factory oil cooler should have a threaded hollow bolt attatched to it, does yours look like this?

A GM dealer, Chevy or otherwise should be able to bring up illustrations
and print these on request. Here is a partial view of the oil cooler and
its plumbing.

#1 - #14084019 - 1/4-18 x 16mm hose nipple
#3 - #14084013 - hose: block-to-cooler, attaches to lower clr ftng
#4 - #14084012 - hose: cooler-to-pipe, attaches to upper clr ftng

Not shown

#5 - #14084014 - pipe for '85, cooler-to-heater. Discontinued
#13 - #14091278 - Tee heater hose for '85
plus - various brackets to retain pipe to oil pan and misc hose clamps.

Of these parts, the nipple for the side of the block is probably the
least difficult to obtain. I was able to source all of the hoses from
GM but this was a number of years ago and supplies may be scarce
now.

I recall looking for the heater hose with the molded Tee and finding
that RockAuto listed what I suspect is the Tee piece by itself for
owners to splice into a conventional heater hose.

You should be sure that the used one you bought it NOT comes from a blown engine.
If yes, there is NO solvent to clean it. Trapped particles in the internal fins coming from the blown engine, can be realesed when the right temp is reached, and directly pushed in the bearing #5.
