Hi

Has anybody tried an aftermarket MAF? I need one for a stock 86, tried a search but did not find anything about this

They are junk, get the OE part.

I don't think there all junk. You should be able to pickup a remanufactured Bosch at a parts store, and a friend on the forum is using a Sorenson I believe, he's had good luck with it. I think what Vader was refering to was the ones claiming to provide extra power etc.

Thanks for the info, do you know of a dealer where I could get one from as I cannot find one in the UK

I have no idea of sources in the UK, here we can pick them up at most parts stores. You might go online and search Ecklers, or Mid America, but I don't know about shipping...just check those sources.

MAF are not cheap....i think they are overpriced big time but hey, what can you do.

i agree with Vader in the sence that the so called modified MAF's that give you extra HP are BULL $#$%#

Also, check Vette2Vette, they sell nice cheap used MAFs(I paid $70 + $10 for Continental US Shipping) and mine works great. They may be willing to ship overseas for a little extra charge.
