New 396. it idles !!
I'll be running much the same cam in the 388 I'm building now, except my cam is on 113 LSA not 112 like yours.
So when you have a chance, I'd really like to read about your driving, idling, throttle response impressions and experience.
Good luck with the new engine.
Thanks,
Jake
The first impression is more than good.
It seems much more responsive thatn the 219 LPE I had on my old 383.
but, I have to say that i changed too much things. The first is the ProEdge Torque converter (a 9.5" 3000 rpm unit). This tc put the engine soon on the right rpm so the throttle reponse is awesome. Wih the old 383 and 219 I was with a stock converter and until 3200 -3500 the car was not so responsive...
I changed also heads (Brodix race Rite 200 cc intake)
I have a fully ported superram, and me and Pete K (he made the engine) we decided to retard the cam 2 degrees fighting the built in 4 deg advance in the Comp cam custom grind.
It has too much torque that I can't use the first gear. The first gear is useless. Use some gas on first and you roast the rear 335 tires. Instead if you are gently with the gas pushing it near the floor, you are near the 5,000 rpm just the while you pushed the gas pedal.
