Since it ran fine for 2 weeks prior to the cold start valve fix, I'd look very closely at that specific area and the components that you worked with while repairing the cold start valve (CSV). Is it possible that an injector connector near the CSV was not pushed down onto the injector completely and has come loose? Are there any wires or hoses in that area that might have been incorrectly re-attached or are now loose? Could you have shorted one of the wires of the injector harness or nearby harnesses? Have you double checked that none of the spark plug wires are loose at the distributor or at the spark plug?
Yes I did unplug the EST connector before adjusting the timing. Hmmm i'm 100% sure everything got connected correctly after fixing the CSV, but the large black connector behind the TACH and BAT connectors is pretty banged up now and I noticed that one of the wires is missing some insulation. I'm thinking maybe that could cause a short, possibly? Definitely worth taking a look at.
edcmat-l1, I have been seriously considering shelling out the big bucks and taking it to a speed shop that specializes in TPI, LT1, and LS1 engines/tuning. Or at least a good mechanic, either way wont be cheap around here.
I dont think that the mods that i've done are enough to require a tune. My main goal with the heads was to get something that fixed my messed up valves. My original heads were screwed so I figured I might as well get new ones. I didnt get anything too wild, biggest change was going from 76cc chambers to 70cc chambers, but it still runs great on 87 with no knock.
I do believe i've received just about all the help anyone can possibly give me without actually working on my car for me. Thank you all very much for your input and hopefully it'll be back on the road soon.
The IAC is less than a year old, I checked it and its clean. I also tested it according to the FSM using a multimeter. I have a new fuel pump and filter. The distributor and related components are all good or have been replaced. I have not ohmed my injectors and dont feel the need to as my fuel pressure is just fine, no leaking and they're all working.
I thought the same thing, my car can sit for a month, and will start the first crank. Had all of the same issues your car has. So I ohmed the injectors. #1 read 5.7, #3 10.4, 5 and 7 ok.
The point is, an injector may not leak, but can still be bad.
