Everyone here seems extremely helpful, so I ask for help with this situation. Started with a dead battery about a week ago. Not sure what caused it, but after a charge and jump, I was on my way to work. That night driving home, I'm getting the flashing "sys" on the CCM, and when stopped at stoplights, everything dims, and the voltmeter drops low. Had to drop into neutral and rev it several times (yes, it's an automatic; sorry) just to keep from stalling. Check the codes when I get home (paper-clip method) and I'm getting 31, 33, 35, and 37, all current and none in the history. Replaced the battery, and everything starts fine with no more codes, but now the ac/heater will only blow through the windshield and foot vents and not the dash, no matter what settings. AC and heater both seem to work. Fuses look ok but I'm not a wiz at working on this baby and may be missing something. Any suggestions? Was something fried when I jumped it?
Have your alternater tested. If it's good, then try resetting by unhooking battery for 10 min or so. My AC is weird sometimes, but usually the next time I start the car, it will be ok.
My 96 acts the same way ie only blows thru the defroster and feet outlets, but I'm not sure of the cause, but think my condition is mechanical, ie stuck vacuum actuator valve. Your cause seems to be related to a bad battery. But I am not sure. If related to the battery problem then maybe you did fry the AC Controller (the rectangular panel that you push the buttons on to direct the air flow) or the AC programmer (the black box above the drivers foot that has the tan, pink, blue, orange, and black vacuum lines coming from it). The 96 factory manual has detailed instructions (in about 4 different sections) so you could test to try to pinpoint the problem. There are troubleshooting flow charts to use. Some of the tests are not easy. IP removal is necessary for some tests. For some tests a special scanner? that a dealer would have is needed. I hope this info helps. Good luck. Let us know what you find. FrankLT4CE
This is a common problem when the electronic AC control fails. It is about $400 to have the dealer replace it. The other thing could be the door is stuck. There was a forum thread on this a while back. You might want to check the archives.

If I remember correctly, these was a post a few months ago about this exact situation and it turned out to be a bad Vacuum (module/valve) in the engine compartment next to the firewall. A $7 fix. Hope this is all that is wrong with yours.
I had the same problem when I bought my car. The dealer fixed as part of the agreement. The a/c mechanic said that some of the vacuum lines were pinched. Just a afterthought.
