Default LT4 thermostat replacement ?

Hello:

I want to replace the upper/lower radiator hoses and thermostat on my '96 CE LT4. I bought the parts at my local chevy dealership. I noticed that I did not get a thermostat housing gasket with the thermostat. I questioned the parts guy and he told me I did not need a gasket for the thermostat housing. He said the rubber seal around the thermostat takes the place of the gasket. The housing snugs up around this rubber seal. Has anyone replaced their thermostat on their LT4 and is the parts guy correct?

Thanks,

Trebor

Correct, no gasket needed.

how many miles on your ce? I have 45k on mine and was thinking about doing the hoses, but I got nitrous instead . The hoses still feel good.

Can you "feel" the inside of the hose? That's the part that gets worn out first since that's where the fluid is.
