questions: opti & waterpump
Anybody have a link or care to enlighten me BEFORE I begin this process?
Also, has anybody had any experience with the aftermarket electric waterpumps? I saw one in Jegs that looked pretty cool and wasn't any more money than a replacement pump.
Speaking of price, I'm thinking Paceparts...anybody know a better (cheaper) place to get parts. AND one more item: need info about putting the kit on the opti to make it better. I KNOW I've read it here, but can't find it. (There is one on tech tips...but it's not the one I remember...the one I know about had pics)
HELP

second, contact carfan18. he will fix you up.
I really don't know if they make an electric pump for the LT1.... I have yet to find one, but maybe I have'nt looked hard enough!!!
if you have any qx, please email. I have done this project... it is time consuming, but not hard. abbogus@yahoo.com
What I'm thinking is just removing everything from the front of the engine...all seems pretty straightforward except the a/c compressor. Pulling that and the alternator and anything else I can find, including the radiator hoses. It looks like that will open everything up quite a bit. I figure the waterpump change should be pretty straightforward, but I've never worked on the opti before and want to make sure I get it off and the new one on right the first time. Want to change plugs and wires at the same time. So any advice you can give on this project would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I did'nt even have to remove the radiator. you just cannot use air tools, tho.
I have the issue in question - ment to say that - and can fax it to you. I need to get a scanner, then I can email the darned thing!

As mentioned above, you really only need to remove the air intake, coil, belt, and damper to get the opti off. No need to mess with the alternator or A/C unit.
