hey guys, the smog pump was toast, since im in florida, i dont need to spend money on the hp stealer! but how can i run my serpentine belt?
are there some aftermarket pully systems i can buy cheap? (besides that expensive march setup? any info would be greatly appreciated!
the car is an '84 with a stock a/c upper right, stock power steering, lower left, stock alternator upper left, tensioner lower right, crank, reversed water pump.
There are air pump elim brackets but they are very costly for what they are. ($150ish) Most Corvette online stores have them. It would be cheapest to gut the pump. Run a search here there should be many threads about it. Then you don't need a new belt either.
Buy yourself an 85" belt, slip it on and drive merrily on your way. 1984 is the only C4 that works on. No special A.I.R. pump eliminating idler necessary.
You are on your own on that one. I don't know of anyone making a "kit". The set ups I have seen involved the adaptation of idler pulley bolted to the block to route the belt around the electric water pump and to give the belt sufficient "wrap" around the remaining pulleys for them to be driven properly. It's time to start cuttin' and weldin'.
