Default The - BBK TPI intake - may be alive again?

I was hanging around thirdgen.org, and it looks like someone from BBK has started to post information about this manifold again.
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tp...e-setup-6.html
Be interesting to see what it turns out to be, and if the TPI guy's will have a new option soon.

Original press release looked like this:
November 1, 2004 - BBK engineering team is set to release our all-new GM Tuned-Port EFI intake manifold in early 2005
This clean sheet design manifold will fit the popular 305/350 TPI Camaro,Firebird and Corvette models and is to be priced at a very affordable $399.99 making it the best performance value around.

They (BBK) are still claiming it is on the way:

"Our engineering team has done it again with our all-new line of SSI-Series performance intake manifolds. These manifolds are currently offered for the popular 5.0L Ford Mustang, LS-1 Camaro/Corvette and the 1.8L Honda models - with 4.6L Mustang and GM TPI versions on the way."

http://www.bbkperformance.com/produc...manifold.shtml

I don't have my hopes up, but it would be nice to see.

It better be affordable cause the whole L98 intake just plain sucks and most aftermarket parts are way too expensive. It makes me seriously consider converting to a carb.

I've been surprised not to see more products like that since the super ram has so much production troubles.

I spend a lot of time reading in the DIY PROM section.
Most of the first prom tuners hang out there, some good people....

How will that compare with my $65 high flow base?

Is that $400 for the entire setup? Thirdgen is doa.

I've been waiting to see edlebrock release a SBC version of their LT1// LT4 manifolds, seems to me that they would sell with all of the LT1 intake conversion threads.

I have no idea what the BBK version is supposed to be like...WIll it be long runner design or a one piece casting?
If its a long runner design,no point using it,unless it can outflow an LT1 intake.

Default BBK TPI intake is real!

I personally spoke to a man named Bryan Rogers today. He a the tech at BBK working on the project. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with him. Here is what I learned:

1. It is still in dev. and the final specs aren't ready. he is working on the prototype prepping it for the dyno, he will release the results of the dyno run when he has them. I directed him to the Corvette Forum for when he posts the results.

2. It will be designed for mildly modded motors (heads, cam, headers, etc., maybe stroker motors) as opposed to stock motors. He billed it as a street/strip monifold.

3. In appearance, it is similar to the Super Ram, and will clear the c4's hood. The design, as I understood it explained on the phone, has a separate upper and lower, connected by runners at are [I]roughly[I] 4-5 inches in length and have a single 90 degree bend. These are press fit into the upper and sealed with o-ring seals. The design is subject to change since this is a prototype.

I would encourage everyone interested to give BBK a call and let them know the level of interest.

I called BBK about 2 years, and I had a conversation as well with someone who worked for the Company. I was told the product should be out in 2-3 months. Its been probably 20 months time now. If its make by BBK, I probably wont buy one.

Hey there guys-

I would've posted earlier in the day but somehow I ended up putting an S at the end of Corvetteforum and ..... well I got lost on the way here

Anyhow, I finally got everything together and set-up so I could dyno the prototype TPI intake today.

It did very well given the fact that I tested it on a BONE stock 88 IROC.

I'm going to post the dyno results here in the morning. They are on my work computer so I 'll have to do it then.
