Default 92 stumbling help... lil long

Drove my 92 over to a buddies last night... went to leave around 10:00
Started fine... idled fine as we stood in the driveway BSing...
Drove down the street and the damned thing started lugging and bucking bad... like I was in the wrong gear....BTW 3rd @ 35mph.
I depressed the clutch and it died... stuck the fkr into 2nd and it refired so I just kept the revs up and went around the block back to my buddies.

Nothing was disconnected.... and we gave it a pretty thorough check in the garage..

Heres the intresting part (worrisome for me).....
When the car started running like crap my digi temp guage was showin 254 while the analog was normal 160ish.....
Same thing with the digi oil temp 254 while the analog read normal
car was not overheating at all

I tried to pull codes and got nothing.... literally.
Jump A&B..All lights and everything come on normally when you turn the key.... but no fans and the SES wont start blinking.

So while I'm trying to take all this in...
The key is still on from trying to get a code...
The damned injectors on the driver bank start clicking(firing? I presume)
I pulled the fuse and they stopped.....put fuse back in and they go.
Turn key off they stop.... turn key on they wait a few seconds then start clicking away.

Car will start then dies quickly.... I can keep it running with the gas pedal....
Lotsa black smoke out the back and if some of you live in West Chester, you probly smelled the unburned fuel last night

Im gonna go back over there tonight and cuss at it some... drink some beer and see if I cant intimidate that POS into firing right
I have some ideas for testing and diag... And yes kids I have a FSM that will be making the trip tonight also
I just want some input from you guys that know more about this stuff than me... Maybe even had a similar experience(s)..

Thanks in advance... I gotta get back to work...lol
Evan

First thing to do is replace the coolant temperature sensor. When they go out and start giving funny readings they make the engine run very poorly. There are actually two sensors, one for the digital gauge and one for the analog gauge. The ECM uses the digital guage sensor to run the engine management systems. That sensor is likely causing your problem. Very good catch to have noticed it as your car was bucking and stalling! Good luck, and please report back.

Thanks blackbird
That was my first thought ...the temp sensor failed, and the ecm made the car go nuts... I managed to get the codes from the ccm and bad news is code 41 ecm serial data circut loss of communications.

But I noticed my oil temp said the same 254.... They are not the same sensor but both controlled(read) by the ecm....Sooooo

I think my ecm has failed... still trying to determine what I can do to confirm this... but at this point thats what I'm thinking.

Help is still appreciated and needed
