Can anyone please tell me if 88 front rotors interchange with 85 rotors? If not, what is the difference?
For whatever reason local manufacturers here only make 88 and later rotors.
The 88 car had a slightly different suspension design and I think the design of the rotor "hat" changed. The early 84-87 rotor hats were at 90 degrees to the rotor face and were deeper The later rotor hats had an angle to them and were not as tall. The 88 also got a new dual-piston caliper up front.
The stock rotor diameter stayed the same at 11.5 inches although 88 was the first year for the J55 13" front rotors and 12" rear rotors that came with the Z51 suspension.
So the early rotors will not work with 88 and later brakes.
