8.91 @ 80.5mph in the 1/8th mile
What do you guys think of my 1/8th mile pass?
2.05 60'
8.91 @ 80.7mph
It's a completely stock 93 LT1 with an auto and 2.59 gears.
I was hoping to get it down to 8.7 but I guess I can settle. Next time I will make sure to not go with 3/4 tank of gas and stall the corveter up a bit more.

I don't know the exact elevation but it's at a normal level. The weather was warm and the track was hooking excellent. I didn't get one ounce of spin off the line, and that was with normal tire pressure.
I'm actually kind of disappointed with my time now, lol.

which track was it? i might be able to pull up an elevation for it.
also, what date, and time was it? i can figure up a density altitude figure for you.
next time, try loading up right before launching. just watch the tach to gauge the ammount of load up. keep bringing it up until you encounter tire spin...
but keep plenty of fuel in the tank... helps with traction.

My wife's '06 Impala SS front wheel driver ran an 8.89 @ 79.99 on a 2.14 60-foot time a couple of weeks ago Maybe we should race
Seriously...nice time with those 2.59 gears. They are holding you back big time.

It's not bad, but not good either.
I have some really small mods and with a 2.05 60-ft launch, my 1/8th times are 8.91-9.09 @ 78.5-80.5
Shaving 1/10 off my launch will reduce my ETs by .15

Your 93 is quicker than mine. I ran a best of 9.01 the other night at 77 MPH with a 1.96 60'. Convertible with 2.59's with a full tank of gas, not sure if the coupes are lighter than the roadsters.

The verts aren't much heavier, like most makes.
It sounds like you're down on power. With a 60' that good, you should be well into the 8's. And 77 mph is about 5 mph too low, that's a lot of hp. Unless the 2.59s are really that bad. What is your trap RPM? Maybe the shift into 3rd is killing you.

It runs the best if I run it through the lights in second gear. It just hits the rev limiter at the stripe. The third gear shift happens 100 feet before the finish line and it runs slower. My car only has 9600 miles on it, sometimes sitting is harder on a vehicle than driving them. I should tune it up and try it again. I know I have a bad O2 sensor on the right bank because of a code 63 and 64 and the day I ran the car, it was hot the air density was at 2500 feet. I also just got off of the freeway and I did not cool it off.

My stock 89 ran
8.7 @ 79.93
2.001 60ft
bald DR's and slipping clutch
Was that the first time you've ever ran down the track or just the first time in that car?
It gets addicting

Melting Slicks
irwindale usually hooks pretty good. Maybe try to get up on the stall a tad to get you a 1.90 short time. I"ll see you out there in a couple weeks once my car gets tuned and the brake master cylinder replaced.

Jesus. Do you think my car is suffering from a huge power loss? Or is that to be expected with the gears I have?

I run a 93 a lot and get a load of this: I have long tubes, cut lid, 52 mm TB, no emissions, Dana 44 with 3:73 gears, a Vigilante 3200 stall converter, a rebuilt tranny with a Transgo full race shift kit that shifts like lightening and big DR meats out back with a line lock to heat 'em up...
I'd bet no one could guess what my car runs in the 1/8 mile...I participate in the Summit Series and race twice a month in that...down here the DA is never below 3500 this time of year, in other words, hot and humid...
Last month I had a total of 13 passes...my 60' times ranged from 1.86 to 1.90....my ET's ranged from 8.81 to 9.04...I'd bet anyone would have guessed my times would be lower...it is all about the DA for me...the higher it gets the slower my LT-1 runs...I had to dial 14.04 when then DA is north of +4000...
This same car and driver (me) went 8.39 in the 1/8 earlier this year when the DA was +500 in Richmond, Va....ran 13.18 in the 1/4 that same day...oh yeah, my short times ranged from 1.78 to 1.83 that day also...once again, it is all about the weather with these LT-1's...
Gears and tires will help you to a point but, as I've pointed out, they won't do anything when the weather is miserably hot and humid...it's fun to be a Florida racer..

Now that's a good run!
I don't pay any attention to tires. The same car will run the same time with that 60' regardless of the tire used to get it.
Important to remember Juan when comparing times, 60' is EVERYTHING. So don't think you're slow if you're comparing a 1.8 60' to a 2.2 60' run, they are apples and oranges.
But yeah, you do look like you're down on power. I would visually check that you're getting 100% throttle with it floored, and do a few more runs, make sure you're using the entire powerband before messing with anything. MPH is your biggest indicator of power, because your launch doesn't effect it very much.

Then again, when I am crossing the finish line, I am barely getting out of second gear.
Bah!
