A few weeks back someone (forgot who it was) wrote to me that he had been told that splined connector that goes between the LT1 (probably LT4 too) water pump and the gear drive which bolts to the block ONLY comes with a new W/P.
Just wanted to let him know he'd been given bad info. I ordered the connector from GMPARTSDIRECT, received and installed it. I also received a Crank Position Sensor reluctor and a melonized gear from them.

when I replaced the WP on my 92 the splined connector was so attached to the old WP I just got a new one from the dealer. Replacement WP didn't have one.

When I pulled my 96 LT1 several days ago I removed the stock water pump from that engine and the connector came off just like it was new, no force at all.
