I dont know if its just me, but everytime im at a light I always get challenged to race, mostly late model mustang's 5.0. Ive even had a Ford Focus sport try to race me. Im in the US Army, so I wont dare race on post. Tell me its not just me who experiences this!!!!
Yep! And the army post isn't the only place you don't want to race. I don't claim to be a goody two shoes, but no good can come of street racing. I usually try to ignore them. I pretend that their "whatever" isn't worthy of a race with a Corvette, even IF they should be able to dust me. Let the Corvette mystique reign, I say. Once in a while I'll take the hole shot and back off at 10 or 15 MPH. If someone really wants to race, "Take it to the track."
I wouldn't mind more of that. I do mostly country driving since I am not found of city life. So no, I haven't been challenged lately. What's a stop light anyhow? There are just slow down signs here.
99% of the time that you think that someone is trying to race you is BS. People in SUVs, Pintos, or whatever, just take off fast at the green light. Give them their space and don't worry about it.

Where do you live? Never heard of a stop light? Damn...hehehehe
I need to go and drive where your at!!!!!
Only chalange I ever had was someone from work kidding around. Well there was a mustang once I am not sure about, I was getting on the freeway and he stayed closer to my tail than most do. I was not racing him but I have no idea if he was trying to race me.

only thing i had try to race me was a stock apearing mitsubishi eclipse. only way he got ahead of me was by running a red light i might like to play but im not stupid either. i figure if hes that dumb let em win
Mustangs are always looking for a race. Must be Cubic inch envy.
Then again here in Mississippi every stop light is a race, pickup trucks, SUV's, Ricers you name it. I still laugh thinking about a co worker who told me his brother in law thinks that way and tries to win the 0-speed limit drag race at every stop light.
I never stop racing. But I don't do random stop light races. That is dangerous and you never know who is watching, street racing is a big problem in Central FL.
Everyone wants to brag about a "Vette kill." I get challenged by many LS1 Camaros/Firebirds, Mustangs, fellow Corvette owners, and even modified 4 cyl. imports/domestics running tons of boost around here ( St. Charles County west of St. Louis). There are many places to play and anyone that has something that runs; runs 'em. I don't discount any vehicle; you never know what the guy next to you has in mods; I have a highly modified C4 running 12.7's in the 1320, but there is always someone out there that can "whip ya"; Vettes are not "be all end all" cars; anybody can get beat by anyone with a better power/weight ratio in a straight line.....having said that, I don't recommend street racing; it has not been good to me....my car makes a statement with a song and dance when you you stand on the throttle attracting our finest patrolling the streets.....take it to the track...it's less expensive!
I live for it. Just love it when they pull up and do the challenge. I usually just shake my head like yea I'll race you. Well only if I see the cop on his bike just ahead hidding in the side street, or the CHP is in the median just over the hill and I have been past him, like 5 minutes sooner, when I was running something someplace. Just live to see them jump all the way past the Cop, and then they get what they deserve. A street is not the place to race, especially with all of the tracks around the country to race. Just my opinion
