I here a clunk noise if I accelerate quickly let off the gas and accelerate quickly again before the auto trans shifts to second gear, Now I don't here any noise if I accelerate and let the trans shifts thru the gears without letting off the gas. Any ideas? Could it be play in the rear ujoints or transmisson gears? The chevy dealer could find no problems
If you take the time to fill out your profile and tell everyone about your car you're going to get much better answers.
If you have an auto trans (LT1) do you hear the noise when you start the car and move it from park to reverse? Do you hear it again when you go from reverse to drive?
No noise when putting it in gear, just when accelerating, then decelrating and then quickly accelerating again thats when I hear a loud clunk noise right before the car starts to actually accelerate.
I have always had various clunks and clanks from the rear end in my 95 ever since it was new. It sometimes happens when going around a turn at about 20-30mph and the trans shifts down. Frequently happens when starting from a dead stop. It always seems like these sounds are coming from the rear end. The other sound I have had is something more like a metallic click or clank that sound like coming from rear axle. This happens sometimes when shifting from drive to reverse or just starting out on a roll. This sound diminished for a while after bringing it to the dealer--they claimed they tightened the wheel bearings.
