Thanks. It is nice they have decided to do educate future possible buyers.
It is a pity they don't seem to have a recall in place for the rest of us
end-users or the third-party vendors who sell pumps based on the Melling
casting.
For my part, I would like to express my appreciation to two members.
CrashGordon brought this issue to my attention last year - I wasn't
initially convinced there was an issue but I subsequently changed my
mind. 85Vet followed up with a second thread posting many photos and
providing a lot of information in the search for alternative pumps and
pickups.

I'd also like to thank these two members. I am happy with my Melling Select pump but wish there was an alternative brand to Melling because they need to be boycotted.
here is something strange, i just recieved the m55hv the other day, form summit, it has the pickup bolted (and) welded on, the shaft hole and casting looks exactly like the new pump. here is a pic this one looks solid? it was like $85

Not unusual.
The MV55 HV and the MV155 HV pumps were determined to be what
I refered to as the middle level of casting offered by Melling.
The M55, M55A & M155 are the lightest castings. The Select series
pumps have the heaviest castings.

But did it include the new standard warning???????
PS - Slalom4me - for the record - Your detailed analysis kept me on my toes . I still would have posted but your input kept it going in the correct direction.

crashgordon joined 11/06 and only appears to have posted to
Melling-related threads in C4 & C3 sections. He made 17 posts
and was last on line Jan 7th.
Whistle-blower? Someone with an axe to grind?
I don't care. What he had to say was relevant to me and I feel
he did me a service.
