Default Are These LT1 Vette Heads??

How can I tell if a set of aluminum heads installed on a 96 LT1 Vette are actually Vette heads and not 'F' body, etc.?

I plan to sell the LT1 engine I just pulled from my 96 and don't want to advertise something that isn't correct.

I'm pretty sure the heads are the same for an f-body and C4 LT1.

There are I believe three different part numbers over the years for aluminum LT1 heads. But none are Vette specific.

Then maybe it's the casting numbers. I recall reading that certain heads are more desirable than others.

Some of the head porters will port a set of heads on an exchange basis, but want certain heads with certain casting numbers.

Can you shed any light on that?

Thanks,

Jake

Casting numbers are actually what I was referring to. Had I said that, I'd have been more correct. There is one casting number that does not allow as much grinding when porting. I believe it's the earliest ones though. Your '96s should be one of the two better ones.

Thanks for the responses.

Now if I can only figure out where the LT1 steam vent tube connects to the TB I'll be a Happy Camper.

My TB has so many places to connect hoses I wonder what in the HE** GM was thinking.

If you have 10207643 or 10128374 you've have the desireable ones from a porting perspective.

I found out that the casting numbers dont mean a whole lot when it comes to being vehicle specific when I got new heads.
