I'm a new '96 Vette coupe owner (02/07) but an old buzzard and not sure I want to burden some of you with this after reading so many interesting and relevant posts but! Intermittently & at no particular speed, I experience a vibration only on certain roads that from a regular car would seem to be a front right tire OOB or a defective shock. I hear the C4's run hard and I like the road feel and do not want to chase my tail or look for the proverbial needle. All comments appreciated.

A bad shock should not actually cause a vibration, per se. However, it can definitely cause a shudder in these cars during hard cornering. Wheel balance may cause a noticeable vibration at different speeds, but these speeds should be repeatable. For instance you may notice it at around 40, again at around 70, etc. Do you feel it in the steering wheel? Although not on the Vette, I had a car with an occasionally sticking front caliper that would make the car shake so bad, it felt like a wheel was coming off! And this wasn't during braking either, but after the car sat for a few days and then was driven a mile or so. I've seen loose front end parts and even defective steering gear that could set up an occasional shimmy or shake that could be quite severe too. A separating tire could be another cause. Have them looked at by an expert. This is not always easy to spot to the untrained eye. Hope this gets you started.
Thx for the great start. I eyeballed some of what you said. I will check with my local Chevy dealer as he has a couple Vette owners on the payroll who may be experts too. Even the salesmen have proved trustworthy at this dealership so I might get lucky. Thx again.
I forgot to answer your question, I do feel it in the steering wheel when I drive my wife to work, same highway, same general area. Maybe I shouldn't be working her so hard? Our two regular cars do not have the same vibration.
