I've been considering a short runner intake like an LTI conversion, but I dont think it would work well since I have an auto. It would shift too soon to hit the powerband.

How can you expect the lower tube intake gasket to get a good seal on such a narrow surface area? Or are you using a liquid gasket vs a cardboard type?

It would have sealed, would have had to make a gasket for it though. THe stock one would have been pretty dicey. Metal crush ring was sticking up in the port

Dont have it anymore, another member does. Next time I get possessed like that Il be grinding on LT5 stuff.

I am dying to know-----what were the results of all that porting? Who has that base?

I have my tpi apart right now except the base. I was told it isn't worth porting. I have patience and carbide burrs, so should I do it?

How about that siamesing? Who has results?

Thanks,

Dave

I ported my intake all three areas, my power is in the upper rpms. it moved from being a tq monster to having power in the upper RPMS.

I still need to reprogram my chip and then i should be able to pickup more low end power. need more timing and VE.

I agree TPI's suck, I wanted the body stlye of an 88 though. My goal is to go to the LS family soon.

Oh YES, the difference was immediately noticable, especially when the Rs cliimbed above 3500 or so.

Of course, your garage will end up looking like you'd been working in a silver mine. LOL

I tracked down the link for you. You'd have to go all the way back to 2001 to see when it all started. There are several links inside the thread that should take you to other sites with more info and pics. Enjoy.
