Well, I was doing a little spirited driving on the freeway last night in my 87 auto, wasn't paying to much attention to exact speed or RPMs, but I was probably doing 65-70 MPH and stabbed it, the engine reved but it felt like the tranny was slipping. I'm going to check the fluid this morning....but does it sound like the torque converter is going? It grabbs and shifts great other wise. If I hit it from a stop she really shifts nicely with no slipping. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Thanks Pete..I was hoping you'd stop in, well, what's your thoughts?
Because it happened at speed, my first thought is the 3-4 clutch pack. That clutch pack has always been a trouble area on a 700r4/4l60/4l60e.
Usually, that is the 1st sign of a hurt trans
Thanks Pete.....kinda figured it could be worst case. Guess it's about time to call my tranny guy.
But I thought it was odd that from a stop it grabbs real good and shifts without slippage, and under normal driving even on the freeway it seems fine....til I stabbed it at 65-70.
