Default Is this too much for a rebuilt engine?

I got the idea for this company here in the forum and they want to charge me $11,000 to have all this done, and their package for the L98 is $2900. I was going to fix my suspension, buy headers and superram myself and get them to install it all. Heres the website for the package http://www.moreperformanceinc.com/l98.htm
I emailed the guy there and he told me sent me back all kinds of stuff he had done, and i replied to tell him that all i needed was the engine package, and for them to install my headers and superram (i cant do that stuff myself, and i dont trust some pansy muffler shop to install those TPIS headers) and if they could, to replace my sensors. His only reply was that it would cost me $11000 to get everything he had, ignoring my reply to his first email. Id be better off buying a damn LT5 and puttin it in than doin all these mods. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful.

Jeez, 11k! Seems like for that get a 406 done, thats tq! Just to dble check-11k for the top end and install your headers and sr???? Or susp. work in there too? And the hp you said-Rear wheel or flywheel? I know I'm a cheap **** as I do all my own work (I work for beer), but that does seem awfull expensive.

No way. Call me cheap too. You could get any number of things for that kind of cash.

i was looking at the hp at the rear wheels, no suspension work, i told him that i would do the shocks, swaybars, and bushings etc. myself. This is only for the motor itself and the various sensors connected to it. Not including MAF, which will be replaced soon by me. Hwoods, what did your engine work add up to? the setup i'm looking for is almost exactly what you have.

Without understanding the detailed list of what he is estimatnig to cost $11K I can not comment on the value. More Performance has quite a following of satisfied customers.

For $11K you could buy another car with an LT1 engine.

Just a thought :)

For $3300.00 or so you can buy a new ZZ4 engine, 355 hp at the flywheel. $1200 for the super ram. $800.00 for the engine swap and they should install the headers for that cost as well I think. I have been quoted 24 hours to R & R a C4 engine so $60.00 X 24 = $1440.00, so somewhere in that price range you should be able to get this done. You can get a 415 inch Bill Mitchell engine from Summitt Racing for about $10,000, depends on what you put inside it, less if not forged internals.

vader 86, I live in wilmington NC, and am in the process of starting a speed shop. And due to being in the process of starting up, my rates are lower then most. email me privately if you are interested, I now have experience with L98's, LT1's, LT4's, Soon LS1's next month. We can explore some options if you are interested!

Well.....if you can do the susp work yourself-go for it! Build your own engine!!! It ain't that hard to do-Get an engine stand and take your time. A couple of good manuals on blueprinting. Then the only trick is to find a good local machine shop for the balancing etc. It is satisfying to say "ya, I built it myself"! If you hit questions you've got a great resource right here on the forum-feel free to pick brains! (well what there is of mine).
