Default C4 > C5 brake conversion. What brake lines will work?

Hi!

Here's the problem: I'm going to convert the front brakes on my 86 to the C5/Z06 setup. The question is what brake hoses will fit my car at one end and the C5 calipers in the other end. I have set of SS lines ment for 84-87 Vettes laying around and was hoping that the caliper fitting was the same but I have heard that the C5 caliper does not have the banjo fittings. Here is a picture of the lines that I have:

If this does not work, will a set of C5 hoses work ? Or will I have to get some special made for my application ?

I converted my 85 to C-5 Z06 fronts. I used the Earls Lines and they seem similar to the ones in the pix you show. I know the 96 and C-5 use the same OEM lines so you may be able to look at the dealer and check the caliper ends of yours versus the dealers. I got the Earls through Jeg's.

Jeg's number---036128A010
Description-----Brake Hose Kit 93-96 Corvette
Price------------$89.99

I haven't tried the rear ones yet, but they look like they will work. At least I know the front lines don't leak at either end.

Good Luck

Roar Hansen,
Texican2k has the same C5 caliper adapters from Electro-Dynamics you emailed me about recently, made in stainless steel.

The brake lines he is suggesting worked with the the C5 calipers and adapters you inquired about.

Looks as though you are going to have a nice holiday project, with new C5 brakes. Best Regards

Thanks for your suggestions !
Looks like I'm going to buy a new set of lines for the 93-96. The lines I have pictured above is Earl's also, but part # 28A080 ..
Anybody (in Norway) need a set of SS brake lines for their 84-87 ? :-)

gene284, I'm going to conntact you in a couple of days to place my order for the brackets.

The guys at vette brake said you should use the ones designed for your year. They said that the fittings on the calipers were the same but the length of the hose might vary so get the ones for your year. I would double check with them at http://www.vettebrakes.com and they could probably get yo some good hoses.
