I guess I didn't make my intentions clear enough, sorry 'bout that.

I want to be able to read my sensor activity real time just as I had using Diacom but without the need of having to use a laptop or PC.

I've been emailing back and forth with Bryan at PCMFORLESS and he gave me some readings I should look for.

I wouldn't be able to see them using the paper clip method. So, I want a Scanner, not simply a Reader. I just hope I picked the right one because I just ordered it. Has a 30 money back guarantee, so if it does turn out NOT to meet my needs, I'll send it back.

Is everyone on-board now?

I appreciate the feedback from all.

I took your advice and ordered it. I received a confirmation email saying it'll arrive in 2-3 days.

I just bought an Equus Innova 3140. It reads ODBI & II as well as many other cars. I've use a jumper wire & my FSM for years but just opened a small shop for vettes only. By the way, I've already used the thing on my cousins Toyota & a friends (ack) Ford & it worked like a champ. Saved both of them some $.

Got it off of flea bay for just over $200 delivered.

Well, I decided that 300HP wasn't going to get the job done, since my nephew has an 05 GTO and was DYING to race me. Since he has a 100 advantage he felt it was a no lose situation for him.

Anyway, I decided to build another LT1 engine, so went about putting together a 388 (+.060 bore) using Eagle's forged crank and 'H' beam, 6" rods and SRP forged pistons. Short block came from CNC-MotorSports.

I lucked up and found a set of AFR 190s (212 ccs after porting) that had been hand ported by Bret Bauer and an intake manifold he ported to match the heads.

The same guy I bought the heads/intake from was unloading all his NEW parts, so I ended up buying his brand new: Opti, Timing Chain Set, CompCams lifters, etc., etc.

I bought a XFI hydraulic roller from one of our Forum members: 280/288 adv. 230/236 @ .050 .612/.610 with 1.7s. I bought Scorpion 1.7s to take advantage of the head flow (304 cfm @ .600). I went with Crane dual springs and cups. TFS did the pushrods..

Bought a Hughes 3000 stall Pro-Series converter, 30# SVO injectors and a ATI Super Damper. I had BRYAN at PCMFORLESS re-program my PCM. I eliminated the A.I.R. and am still running the stock exhaust system.

Fired the engine for the first time several days ago and, with the exception of a power steering hose nut that loosened during the removal/installation, all is well. No codes, starts on first turn of the key, idles well, no resonance (which is why I stayed with the stock exhaust system), temps and pressures are fine, no smoke out the tail pipe.

I did kill the alternator by not disconnecting the battery before trying to pull it. Yea, I KNOW, I'm an idiot. I just KNEW I could save myself that little step, but . . . I bought another one from AutoZone yesterday and this time I DID disconnect the battery ground wire; engine's back to normal now.

I had to buy 1/4" taller valve covers (ProForms with a GM license) to clear the poly locks and even then I had to tweak the baffles to clear one rocker on each head. The alternator, both old a new, had to be tweak too, in one spot, to clear the taller covers. Top brace fit fine though.

I've put maybe 100 miles on the engine so far and plan to do a few half throttle blasts today gradually working my way up to smoking the hides.

I tried as best I could NOT to canabalize my stock LT1 for parts to use on the new engine since I want to sell it as complete as possible. It's For Sale now. The stock engine ran flawlessly when I pulled it and it's now on a stand, all bagged up, just waiting for the lucky buyer. LOL

The 415 is still in my 86. A family member wants to buy the whole car. I'm not sure if I want to sell it. Heck, I'd just put a Mini-Ram and a Corsa system on it.

That's about it. THANKS for asking.

Take care,

Jake
