Default Bad gasoline

So I pumped about five gallons of bad gas out of my corvette from its time in storage and this gas was obviously bad, was colored dark yellow and smelled like varnish. My question is, what should I do next to clean out the tank, I know most gasoline has detergents in it to help break down the varnishing and carbon deposits, however I'm sure there is something else I can do considering the level of contamination.

I'm also going to replace the fuel filter and will probably replace the fuel filter every 1000 miles for the first 2 or 3 thousand miles.

Just get as much old gas out as you can. Then fill it up with fresh gas and dump 1/2 can of seafoam in the tank or some other known fuel additive. I would change the fuel filter before cranking/starting and after the engine has run for a little bit. A fuel filter is cheap insurance to prevent clogged injectors. JMO

OMG...gas was in your tank for 5 years?(even if you had added StaBil, it wouldn't help gas stored for 5 years)...no wonder it went bad ...get all of that stuff out and put a fresh tank full of premium gas and add 2 bottles of Techron and a bottle of STP gas treatment that helps burn any water left from condensation and pray that it works...good luck

On the plus side I think I can redo my kitchen cabinets with the varnish that I siphoned out of there....

just an update, I got home with another gas tank to syphon more gas out of it, and I started getting this black sludge out of there, I'm starting to think I'm going to have to drop the tank and clean the whole damn thing out.

Depending on how bad this "sludge is you may want to drop the tank. If you drop it get a buddy and fill it with either fresh gas or mineral spirits and then shake the heck out of it. Dump and repeat.

If this is just a little junk you picked up then I would drain the tank, fill it with a little fresh gas, bounce the car up and down in the rear, drain again, and then fill it with fresh 93 Octane Gas (has detergent) and a can of
