balancer hub?

balancer hub?
I got the balancer off, but the center hub bolt is still in there, when I go to try and loosen it all it wants to do is spin, any ideas would be very helpfull. it is a 95 lt1. thanks

Is the bolt spinning at the same time as the crankshaft? Or is it turning loose?
If it is turning with the crankshaft you would need to keep the engine from turning, maybe at flywheel level at the starter using some kind of prybar to avoid the engine from turning, and changing gears to 1st if it is manual.
If the bolt is just turning loose hte threads might be damaged and that would need a solution that someone else can suggest.
By the way, I read that in order for the hub to be removed you should elevate the engine a bit so the tools can clear the steering rack and other structures.
And you will need an extractor for this core.

When I did this job I fabricated a holding tool out of a piece of angle iron too hold the crank while I losened the crank snout bolt.
Just drill the angle iron too pick up the bolt holes, bolt it onto the hub temporarly and loosen the bolt.

It is just spinning the engine, thanks for the replies. it is actually on my 95z, so I have plenty of room, the radiatior and everything is off the front of the motor. sorry it is and auto, so it looks like I need somthing to keep the motor from moving.

So you had the radiator out of the car and that gave you more clearance for the tools?
I read that you had to rise the engine for tools to fit in that little space.
Could you post a picture? I have to get my hub off the engine but had no idea it could be dissasembled without rising the engine.
