Something for the purists to hate.
I went up to Detroit for the 4th to visit some friends and saw this very interesting NCCC autocross car.
ZR1 body, fully raced prepped with cage and 16in slicks, with a 550hp SBC not an LT5, oh and a sprint car wing on top!
EDIT:
on board of the car

Don't let this hit the ZR1 section. There is a guy over there hating on an ebay ad... for the seller advertising that he put a ZR1 body kit on it.
It is actual ZR1 pieces and the guy makes no claim that it is a ZR1. (It's a fully tubbed 85 drag car with solid rear)
This car is pretty bad ***. The fenders look flared in that pic. I don;t think I would have noticed the wing if you didn't mention it. I'm sure it's quite obvious in real life.

Safety Car
I think that is cool as s**t. That is what Corvettes were made for, going around corners. I don't get why someone would make a Corvette a drag car.
Oh well, to each his own, I guess.
Great post.

Can tell the car is fast. Too bad he doesn't know the line at Putnam Park, he lost lots of time the way he ran it. Tis the challenge of going to a new track however and is part of what makes it fun!

I just had to vent about all these folks that claim their C4s as ZR-1s. I guess the way to look at it is a compliment that they all wish they had a real one? I was in Texas last week and I saw a white 91 convertible with a mix of Greenwood ground effects and an aftermarket spoiler with ZR-1 emblems . Because so many folks don't know the difference, these clowns will tarnish the name.....especially if they get their **** smoked by a rice burner or otherwise. It has been a few years since I have vented about this subject. Unlike all the other cars that you can clone pretty easily, at least the ZR-1 takes way more than just emblems to truly clone.
I really believe that we will have something very special over the next 10 to 15 years plus if we can keep the parts avaialable for our unique Corvetttes.

My point was not very serious, just kind of funny that the title made an assumption that a few have helped to support. And if the threads weren't just a few apart I would not have noticed. I didn't title the thread, just showed why someone would use such a title. I know Brian meant nothing by it.

Again..great car thanks for sharing Brian

That sure looks like Ray and Sharon's RP car from the Michigan Autocross Group. Ray can drive just about anything fast, and if it does not add to the performance it would not be on the car.

because they were made for drag racing too....
just as many interested in drag racing them, as there are in road racing them.
and C4`s make pretty good drag cars....
