Default Ya Know That Turbonator???

Not to bash and rehash an old subject,BUT has ANYONE here ever tried it or used in in their C4?Or any car they own?

I dont have my C4 anymore and have no plans on buying a Turbonator, but was browsing though different web sites and came across it again. For laughs, read the testimonials and some people are really convinced it worked on their car.

So I had to ask whos guilty of trying one and if it even worked?

Come on,dont be embarassed..years ago before I had the interwebby,I tried an air foil, intake mods, snake oils, stupid fake chips, and wasted alot of money of things that never worked, due to magazine and catalog claims..no,never tried that fuel magnet tho..did not believe even the ad!But am guilty of trying stupid things and wasted moola on it.

Keep this for fun peeps, its not to bash anyone or insult anyone either.

Since you said no bashing, I admit I bought it and a air foil for 70 dollars together. Honestly, I had the feeling that my car was faster but it also feels faster after a long 2 hour wax job. Anyone agree on that? It was just a feeling because something new was on it. It was useless. I gave it away at a yard sale to a guy with a dodge pickup. Air foil was proven to give like 2-3 horsepower at high RPMs though. Nothing what they claim. I have been looking for that site and can't find it though. If anyone knows what it is, please post it.

Ha,your the first one to step and say something...thanks!

Is this the site you were looking for?
http://www.turbonator.com/index.html...ntentAirIntake

Anyways,If you read the testimonials, most people who make claims do not have any real way to test it.I think only one person made a dyno claim or something, and thats still just that,a claim.

If these things DID work and you could see a real all the time,10-15 HP gain for say 40 bucks, thats a steal.Claims up to 35 hp...wow...thats something else!

Default turbonator

I bought an air foil because it made sense. I fix airplanes for a living, and straightening airflow is big business. I didn't notice any change, but I don't always drive with my foot in the throttle body anyway.
casual inspection of the airfoil revealed the screw coming loose that secures it to the throttlebody, and in danger of the engine ingesting it.
I resecured it, and this time used loc-tite.
And.......
Come to think of it, there are planes with vortex generators that intentionally screw up the airflow to make the control surfaces more responsive.................

It IS faster Providing your using performance wax, of course. Like.....never use a slow wax like Turtle.

Yesterday I replaced the air filter in my '95 Riviera (3.8 SC).....decided to de-screen the TB (on a whim). I could SWEAR it was more responsive after!

Yeah. Right.

I will admit that about 7 years ago, I bought one of those "Tornado" things (much like the Turbonator) for a GP that I had. I found it in the garage the other day and was going to give it away, but I couldn't let myself do that to someone else. It did make a satisfying (in a cheap stainless steel way) clank in my trash can...

On one of the infomericals for the "Tornado" one, there was a guy with his two C4's raving about it.

Ha who knows...the tornado and the turbonator, seems so much alike...I will say this though...If it its TRUE one can gain a few extra mpg,it would be great, but on mpfi, efi cars, etc I find it very hard to believe a swirl effect into the manifold does the change that much...but hey im no engineer either!

His two C4's looked to be early model . I think the guy was hired and paid to say that.

Default you guys kill me

@#$%$%^$! the turbinator. It might give a couple of GEE GEES but what you really need for around the same price is the SUPREME ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER. iF YOU INCLUDE A HOME DEPOT REOSTAT (42.95) into the wiring you have dial in power on demand. A huge benefit of our system is that it can be linked to operate the heater and demister on pre 1978 vehicles. Call us for pricing.

Default electric supercharger

well think about it, it's not free power, but it can work for a little 4 cylinder.
Hmmmm I wonder what improvement I can get with 2 electric fans and a hair dryer
never mind, the extension cord would be too long, and the liability would be huge if somebody ever stepped on the cord while I was actually driving it. I mean if

that's why you drill a hole in your firewall and run it to an inverter connected to your cigarette lighter.. That is the way the professionals do it!

The 1984 Corvette already has two of them mounted in the intake. A lot of people remove them to increase performance.
