Coming home from work tonight, It decides to
start less than easily, then when I get going, the S-E-S
light comes on.
I get home and the code I get is a 34.
My handy dignostics guide sez it's a
Mass AIR Flow Sensor
or
Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor.
Anyone have any info more current?
I don't want to just start changing parts.
Thanks for the help.
that code is definitely the good ol' maf. do a search on maf and you'll get lots of good advice on it. could be as simple as changing the relays, or...it could be like mine.
Bob this is Bob close to SF Ca. Yup it is the MAF..But you can go to Auto Zone, Pepboys and get the two relays and try that first...Frankly I would not horse around and get the two relays for 9 bucks a piece and a rebuilt Bosh MAP and lose the 34. I replaced mine two months ago with an Auto Zone with a rebuilt Bosh. In 60 days I got another 34 and took the rebuilt back and they gave me another. It runs great. When the MAP is on the Fritz the car does not want idle in the bigging, if you can pedal the throttle to warm her up enough it may run fine(sounds like my wife) until you turn it off and try to start her again...Good Luck.
Bob 89 Vett 6 Speed with ride control :smash: :smash:
I've had code 34 set twice, once on my 88 GTA and once on my 87 vette. Both times it was the relays. They are cheap enough that I didn't bother to figure out which one, just replaced both. A lot cheaper than a $200 MAF if it fixes it.
Thanks alot you guys!!!!!!!
I think I'll try a couple of new relays 1st,
then reset the codes and see if that does it.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Bob.
When I got my 88 it had a new MAF already. I still got a code 34 once in a while. Last thing I did was clean and tighten the connector to the MAF sensor and no more codes.
