Well i am recieving my intake today, i am planning to start this evening with cutting out the divider walls, my question to you guys that have done it is how far back do i cut?
I won't be able to put up any numbers because the local track has closed for the season
I hope this is an "extra" base you are doing this to. I did this to my 85 when I did a complete motor swap this spring, so I can't post before/after results. The motor does like to rev alot better. I was shifting at 5500, and it felt like it could go higher. I still have a few things to do to my new motor so I can't give you an honest yes or no if this works. I have lost some low end, but it may be due to the cam I put in. Here's a link to the Camaro/Bird forum with some pics. http://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/F...ML/001492.html
Keep us informed on the results.
Thanks,
Carl
Isaac,
I went to the machine shop last week and cut mine in 3". After I get done polishing it will probably be about 3 1/2" in from the runner side of the intake. All the reading I have done seems to indicate that this is a good depth. Guys who have gone deeper (around 5") have experienced reversion on the #5 & #7 since they fire consecutively. This intake came with a stripped thermostat hole, so i have to get that fixed also before I install it. I am going to do lots of porting and polishing on the runners too before I er-install everthing. It's gonna be a while before this is on the car. We just used an endmill on a vertical machine to hog out the dividers, it would have been nicer to have a horizontal mill tho.
yeah it is a spare intake, thanks for the link i couldn't find it again, i just hate mine dying on the top end, i can beat a modded LS1 TA all the way to the 1000 before mine runs out of breath :mad then he takes me by .2 second

Bob
hey bob hows it going? i am thinking about having my friend that works in a mchine shop bore mine out, then it will be semi-CNC machined :D
Hopefully mine will be done within a few weeks, i am also gonna polish it and since i have 10 or so hours into the top of the plenum i imagine it will be at least that much into the manifold, oh the things we do for our cars
hmmm maybe we can check for O2 sensor readings and see how things are responding before and after.
hey bob shoot me an email at work if you still have that address or at xxcorvettexx91@aol.com, we should get together sometime soon and go to hooters or something :D see if we can round up some other Vette and car guys and go for a drive or something
