dash pad... bring back to life?

I am working on an 89 coupe, and currently have the dash pad out of the car. The pad is hard as woodpecker lips!!!

What can I use to soften it back up??

I have heard tons of "home remedies" over the years. Not to mention the vast array of "bottled magic" and "snake oils" available at any parts store and/or web site.

I have never really been convinced by any of them.

On the other hand, I have never really needed to use one, until now...

I just thought I would check here first...

Any thoughts?

F21 by Turtle Wax works very well.... spray it on liberally (hose it on!) and let it soak in. Repeat a few times.
F21 doesn't leave a shiny slimy appearance like ArmorAll, but rather a nice satin finish (like a new piece).

i used something called black chrome. It worked. The dash was hard and sunfadded. now it has a nice satin black look. The black chrome also works on the black rubber molding all around the perimeter of my 86.
