I put a 92 LT1 in my 72 chevy pickup truck. I removed the EGR system from it. It will not idle and I can keep it running only be pumping the accelerator. It will start and if I don't pump the accelerator to keep it running it will die. I have a new painless wiring harness and VATS bypass module. It does the same thing whether the vats is hooked up or not. Could it be bad. Is that how the VATS works? Also I get four faults from the computer. 26 EGR(which I am not using), 27 TCC (which I am not using), 28 and 66 which both have to do with the AC which I am not using also. Will not having the EGR hooked up cause that? ALso I am starting it with open headers and they are very close to my knock sensors could the noise from the headers be cusing the knock sensors to retard the spark or fuel? That is all I can come up with. I will appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks, Dave   :cry :cry :flag
I know how you can fix it! Start by raising the engine up with a cherry picker. Then role the truck out from underneath it. Then role a 92 Corvette, minus the engine, under your engine. Lower the LT1 engine into the hollow Corvette and it should work. Hope this helps. :jester
