"Service ASR" light when scanning

I was working on my 93 LT1 and hooked up the laptop for the first time. Well when I was scanning the Service ASR light came on. I do not think I had to have the laptop even hooked up it seems to do it just with the cable plugged into the car. I also got DTC error on Datamaster several times but not the whole time I scanned, it seemed to happen after 10 or 15 min. of scanning and then did not go away. I am just wandering if this is normal, do i have a problem with my scan setup, or a problem with the car more likely.

I get 'Service ASR' too on my 92. I think it's normal. Also, my car wont start sometimes if the laptop is connected, so I always start the car first.

You start the car then plug the laptop in? That does not sound good but I will keep it in mind if I have the same problem. So you would say the DTC error is a seprate issue?
