Default Anyone running 3.75 gears???

I am thinking of putting 3.75 gears in with a shift kit. I have an HPP and was looking through the manual and there is no setting for 3.75, just 3.73. Will I do any harm by programming to 3.73?? Also how big of a difference do 3.75 make from a 2.59? thanks for the feedback in advance.:)

The 3.73 will be running about 2000 rpms at 60mph. The 2.59 I believe was about 1200 rpm. I went 3.54 and it sure makes the car a lot more fun to drive. On setting your speedo, I believe the 3.73 setting would be fine. On mine, it was a gear change. Good luck

I talked with a Hypertech rep and he said progrm it as close as possible. It will still be off about one two mph. I cant wait to get the car back. It should be sweet.:D

Hey JP,
Youre going to LOVE the new gears...its going to really make the car feel alive.
While 3.73's on my L98 is said to be a bit too much gear,(I love it anyways) on the LT1 its a good match according to some of the guys on this forum.
The gears help you to enter your power band sooner enhancing that power on tap feel.
You may lose 2-3 mpg on the highway but once you get used to the gearing and gas pedal feel, it will come back close to normal.
Youre not going to have to push the pedal down as much as before to get the car going, even though you will more so because of the thrill factor.
:D
Keep us posted how it comes out.
:)

You will love this set up - at first you will be wondering what gear you are in. Scared me when I first took off - fish tailing and rubber burning. Once you get used to the difference you will think you can take anyone. Problem is you are not the only one out there with gears....enjoy :seeya

With the HPP you can adjust the tire diameter. If you have a standard 26" tire on the car set it at 25.75 or 25.50 and the speedo will be closer.
Try it out.

Hey guys I have a couple of questions about this conversion.
I'm running the 2.59 gears in my92.
I'm considering either 3.54 or 3.75. Is there really that much difference between the two. I also do a fair bit of highway driving.
Also, for the Dana 36, 2-Series carrier those 2 gear offerings I've found from Richmond and Strange. Strange also offers a 'thick' gear. I want the one that will be quieter. Would the thick gear have any value? Does anyone have any experience with Strange? Seems a lot of folks are using the Richmond 3.75. Are those really quiet? I keep on hearing those gears whine a fair bit.
Appreciate any feedback. I'm doing the gear swap this month.
Thanks, Graham
